If this gorgeous weather is our Spring, we are in for a HOT summer!
I lived in Oxnard Beach for a bit and I frequent there as much as I can. Any beach is my "happy place", but all these cities have my heart.
Oxnard and Ventura beaches are hidden gems. A lot of people that I met while I lived in Oxnard Beach who were not "locals", had relocated from south beach communities: Dana Point, Newport, Laguna. They shared with me that Oxnard and Ventura reminded them of the younger version of those wonderful south beach cities before they became over-crowded.
Oxnard and Ventura beach prices have risen within the last 10 years however, they still remain the most affordable beach communities in comparison. Oxnard is booming with new shopping centers and there are plenty of things to do!
Downtown Ventura has grown without losing its historical pride and is simply amazing. You can spend all day walking on Main Street for great shopping, antiquing and tasty food. I've never had a bad time enjoying the nightlife there!
Carpinteria Beach, or as the locals call it "Carp" is a perfect little day trip. It is just 12 miles away from Santa Barbara and their downtown area will keep you busy with little cafes, restaurants, bars, mom and pop shops, and antique stores.
